One of the latest things that we have in the implant industry is what they call Mini implants. Mini implants are for the patients who due to the fact that they have lost their teeth, the bone has shrunken. As your bone shrinks, it gets very thin. There is not a lot of bone available to place the normal styled implant. Today they have designed what they call a mini implant, which is a much thinner type of implant. These implants are great to use. They stabilize lower dentures as well as upper dentures and it is a procedure, which can be done in one visit in the office. We can take anybody's denture and place these implant and that day they can go home and the denture will actually snap into and be locked into place. Most people with dentures could not cut themselves when I tell them to bite their lip. If they bit as hard as they could, they could not cut themselves. With mini implant, you will bite down, you will cut yourself, so think of how you will be able to eat a steak because you will be able to chew where you would not be able to do that with normal dentures.
