Restore Your Smile in Just One Appointment with Same-day Implants
Dental implants are small titanium posts surgically inserted in the jaw, designed to replace missing tooth roots and support a range of restorations, including dental crowns, bridges, and dentures. Traditional dental implants require a minimum of two surgeries and months of healing before the permanent dental prosthetic can be placed. Dr. Clifford Degel is proud to offer same-day implants at our Queens practice. Unlike traditional implants, this procedure can fully restore the function of your bite and the beauty of your smile in just one appointment. What are Immediate-placement Implants?
Dental implants become permanently fused to the jaw bone in a process called osseointegration. Before traditional implants can support a restoration, they must become completely integrated with the jaw, which can take three to six months. Same-day implants are also called mini dental implants, which have a smaller diameter than traditional implants. Mini implants can provide the necessary support for an implant-supported denture immediately after they are placed. Mini implants are often used in conjunction with the Prettau® Implant Bridge, a superior quality restoration that looks extremely lifelike and features highly durable, stain-resistant zirconia.
Our Advanced Technology
Two advanced technologies are used to ensure the success of our patients' same-day implants: SIMPLANT® planning software and Mini Drive-Lock® implants. Precise planning is an essential step of implant placement. After a computed tomography (CT) scan of your jaws is entered into the SIMPLANT® software, Dr. Degel can create an incredibly detailed 3-D image of your facial structures. The computer-guided system optimizes implant placement, minimizing the risk of complications and ensuring the longevity and durability of your implant.
The Mini Drive-Lock® is a type of mini implant with a hydrophilic, bio-active OSSEAN® surface that minimizes recovery time and improves fixation for an exceptionally stable foundation.
Weighing Your Treatment Options
Many of our patients choose mini implants because they are:
- Minimally invasive: Mini dental implants' small diameter naturally minimizes the risk of complications, while reducing recovery time and post-operative discomfort.
- Convenient: Patients with missing or extracted teeth can leave our office with a fully functional, customized implant-supported denture in just one appointment.
- Compatible with more patients' jaws: Missing teeth cause the surrounding bone to atrophy over time, meaning some patients may need a bone graft before their jaw can support a traditional dental implant. Fortunately, many patients who have experienced some degree of jaw atrophy have adequate bone mass to support these smaller implants.
Just like traditional implants, mini implants can halt further atrophy of your jaw. If you have waited to address missing teeth, same-day implants are a highly beneficial solution to consider.
