During your next appointment, Dr. Degel will surgically embed the titanium posts into your jawbone. Our practice uses sophisticated imaging technology to ensure the optimal placement of your implants.
Some patients will require as few as four implants to support the entire full-arch restoration. Dr. Degel will carefully plan your procedure so that you will have adequate support for your dentures using as few implants as possible.
Following the surgery, the implants will be allowed to fully integrate into the jawbone, which typically takes about four to six months.
Dr. Degel will create a wax mock-up of your dentures that he will use to ensure a comfortable fit and make any necessary adjustments. Our in-house dental laboratory can make your prosthetics out of many different materials. We proudly offer the Prettau® Implant Bridge, a product made from the highest quality zirconia for unmatched strength, durability, and aesthetics. Prettau® zirconia has many of the same light-reflecting and translucency properties as natural teeth. When your permanent dentures are ready, Dr. Degel will place them and your restoration will be complete.
After the fusing process, called osseointegration, is complete, you will come back to our office. Depending on which type of implant-supported denture you are receiving, a snap, bar, or abutment will be attached to the implants.
These pieces are used to connect to your dentures and hold them securely in place. Your gums will be allowed an additional two weeks to heal and impressions will be taken that we will use to craft your custom dentures.

The procedure for implant-supported dentures will be split into several office visits. Some patients will require additional procedures to prepare their mouths for dental implants. Bone grafting and tooth extraction are commonly recommended to prepare the mouth and strengthen the jawbone.
With an implant-supported restoration, you can achieve the ultimate strength, stability, and durability that you would not be able to achieve with a traditional denture.
If you are found to be a good candidate for mini implants, you may be able to avoid a grafting surgery even if the quality of your bone has been compromised. When the jawbone and gums are fully prepared to accommodate implants, we can move to the next phase of your procedure.z
