What Are Digital Dentures?

If you are considering dentures, you may be wondering what the differences are between conventional and digital dentures. While traditional dentures are made over the course of several weeks using conventional materials, digital dentures are a faster treatment solution that also produces high-quality results.

To understand why this is, let’s take a look at how they are made. AvaDent dentures are made up of two components.

AvaDent Puck

This acrylic disc makes up the base of your denture. Before it is milled into a base, it resembles a gum-colored hockey puck. Unlike conventional denture material, the AvaDent puck:

Is nonporous

Is more bacteria-resistant

Has enhanced fracture resistance

Fits comfortably against the roof of your mouth

Is shrink-resistant

Is Monomer-free

Is made in the USA

Premium Dentures

During fabrication, the puck is completed with eXtreme-Cross-Linked (XCL™) fully-milled dentures. These dentures are made using patented technology. They are monolithic, meaning that they are made using a single piece of material. This eliminates the need for bonding material and makes them highly resistant to fractures.

The digital design and manufacturing feature also reduces the probability of human error, ensures more predictable outcomes, and promotes an exceptional fit.

The dentures also boast impressive aesthetics. They are digitally designed to look and shine just like natural teeth. They are also versatile and can be worn as traditional dentures or as implant-supported dentures.

How They Are Made

First, one of our dentists will assess your smile and determine whether you need any extractions, gum disease treatment, or other procedures to restore your oral health. This gives us a healthy foundation for your new prosthetic.

Once the necessary preparatory treatment is complete, one of our dentists will take impressions of your smile using our digital scanner. This eliminates the need for traditional putty impressions, which can be messy, time-consuming, and particularly uncomfortable for patients who have a sensitive gag reflex.

We will then digitally upload your impressions directly to our in-house lab. Our technicians will use the computer-aided design and manufacturing unit to craft the base and dentures from the premium materials provided by AvaDent.
