About Zoom!® Teeth Whitening and How it Works

Dr. Degel Jan 13, 2011

There are many ways that people can whiten their teeth and make their smiles look brighter and whiter. But if you really want to get the most out of the brightness and whiteness of your smile, you need to undergo a professional teeth whitening procedure with a skilled cosmetic dentist. If you come to our office for Manhattan cosmetic dentistry, there will be several options that you will have at your disposal for in-office teeth whitening. One of these options will be Zoom!® teeth whitening.

A quick word first, though, on what causes teeth to become discolored. Tobacco products are a common culprit, as you may well know. The same goes for certain beverages, red wine, coffee, tea, and colas in particular. One thing that many people don’t really note in terms of tooth discoloration is that the natural aging process will result in some level of staining.

What makes Zoom!® teeth whitening so special? Well, when you come to our office for a teeth whitening procedure, the first step will be to thoroughly clean your teeth. The next step will be the application of a special whitening gel which contains hydrogen peroxide. Once the whitening gel has been applied, the teeth are then exposed to a whitening laser that activated the whitening gel. The entire procedure only takes about one hour, which means that you can enhance your smile during a lunch break.

There are other options that you have for Manhattan teeth whitening, but it’s important that you come to our office so we can discuss all of your treatment options with you in greater detail. For severe tooth discoloration, porcelain veneers may be a better option than teeth whitening.
